2 Pac – Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z

Out the gate, you can hear Pac doesn’t stray far from his lane that was executed thoroughly on his debut album “2 Pacalypse Now” which was, ongoing issues with law enforcement and the Black community, racial inequality within the Black community, and an all out stance to unite the Black community against these injustices.

What stands out right away is his early social Justice style of content doesn’t change in his rhymes but the delivery seems a little more developed. He has less of an NWA approach and he’s coming into his own. The song “Last Word” with Ice Cube I can hear how excited he was being on the same song which I’m sure was a major influence on his identity in music up until that point.

Production wise, the goal seemed to still be to provide him with decent enough beats to get his point across primarily whereas the hit singles off the album like “Keep Ya Head Up” and “I get Around” were crafted specifically to be more sonically pleasing as these would be the standout songs to sell the album. The other beats were pretty much the same formula where the structured needed to be gritty and simple.

Overall, his second album solidified him as a formidable player in the rap game as we seen his diversity sprinkled throughout the album with the lead singles and personal pieces like “Papa’s Song.” He had officially shown growth in how he not only delivered his content but how he created it as well.
